Ockman House, Rye

Ockman House in Rye is set down a cobbled lane with enviable views across the Romney Marsh.  Being in the heart of this historic town offers the most idyllic escape into one of Englands most beautiful towns.  It has been lovingly restored and renovated, bringing it into the 21st Century. This spacious property makes it the most perfect place to base yourself for a family or friends get together.

Inside the property

Approaching the house via a small cobble street you enter the property. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the most wonderful open plan kitchen/dining room. The kitchen comes with an oven, combi microwave oven, hob, large fridge freezer with ice machine, bottle fridge, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a large island with an additional sink and four bar stools which allow for plenty of space to help with prepping meals.  All served to a large dining table for ten.  The kitchen has a smart TV on the wall, DAB radio and SONOS speaker.  To the rear of the kitchen is a further cloakroom with a loo and back door.

To the left of the hallway is a sitting room with a large corner sofa and a Smart TV. French doors lead onto a newly built deck with an outdoor dining area and a BBQ for alfresco dining. Which then leads to a spiral staircase to the patio and shingle garden.  A glorious spot to enjoy the morning sun and take in the spectacular view.

Ockman House has TWO options for booking.

OPTION ONE for 6:  First floor only.

First floor: Master bedroom with ensuite shower room (and Smart TV), Twin room, Double room, Family bathroom – Sleeps up to 6 guests.

OPTION TWO for 8:  TO BE ADDED AS AN EXTRA WHEN BOOKING.

First floor: Master bedroom with ensuite shower room, Twin room, Family bathroom

Second floor: King bedroom with ensuite shower room, Twin room with ensuite shower room (Smart TV), Sleeping up to 8 guests.

PLEASE NOTE: The double room on the first floor is closed off when booking Option Two.  If booking Option One, the top rooms are closed off. 

The utility room can be found on the first floor which comes with a washing machine, tumble dryer and a small ceiling airer.

Outside the property and local area

The newly designed garden drops down below the house via a spiral staircase from the sunny deck.  The deck is the perfect sun trap for those lazy days.  Steep steps lead down to different shingled levels recently planted with stunning coastal fauna and flora it will soon burst into colour.  The garden is NOT recommended for young children.  One dog is allowed in the property.

Parking outside the house is drop off only, a car park is a short walk from the property, there are parking bays within yards of the property for a short stay, (80p for two hours from meter, or £1 using the Ringo app) for longer, a few minutes walk is Rye Station car park which is £2.90 per day (or you can buy a weekly ticket) or Rye Market Car Park (please note not available on Thursdays – market day!) which is £2 all day!

Rye hosts a wide variety of festivals, literature, jazz, food and Christmas festivities. Wander the cobbled streets, climb the church tower, explore the Rye Museum or indulge in some of the local eateries. Barista coffee, artisan bread, and delicious fresh local fish are a plenty.  The world is your oyster (or Rye Bay Scallop!).  Antiques, independent shops and art galleries will ensure you spend a few days in town. If you want to venture further afield, the beaches of Camber and Winchelsea are 10 mins away.

Our changeover days during peak season are on Thursdays. Our weekend rate includes late departure on Sundays or departure on Monday morning.  We have a mid week rate of four nights. If we have late availability and you are looking for a shorter stay please do email us to see if we can accommodate you. A booking fee of £20 will also be added to the booking.
